Sokoto Governor Unveils Initiative for Disabled Citizens

Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has announced a monthly stipend of ₦10,000 for a select group of disabled citizens in the state, as part of his government’s efforts to promote inclusivity and empower the disabled community.

Aliyu made the announcement on World Disability Day, while also distributing 500 handcycles to those in need. He promised that his government would be rehabilitating the A.A Raji Special School to create a more conducive learning environment for students with special needs.

To further support the disabled community, the governor outlined plans to increase the stipend beneficiaries from 6,679 to 10,000 persons and to start the procurement of a second batch of hand cycles to enhance mobility and independence for those living with disabilities.

Governor Aliyu also expressed gratitude to former Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and Senator representing Sokoto North for their kind donation of ₦10,000 each to the 6,679 beneficiaries of the stipend.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the overall standard of living for all citizens of Sokoto State, regardless of their background or abilities.
