Senatorial Appreciation for FCT’s HIV/AIDS Management Efforts
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), commended the administration’s efforts in managing the HIV/AIDS epidemic. According to her, 61,384 patients have been placed on treatment, a remarkable accomplishment that demonstrates a proactive and impactful approach to combating public health challenges.
The Senator, a member of the Labour Party, praised the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat for their progress in addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the capital territory. “The 61,384 people on treatment – 223% of the projected figure – is a testament to the administration’s commitment to tackling this public health challenge,” she said.
Senator Kingibe emphasized the importance of sustained efforts from the government to invest in public health infrastructure and continued awareness campaigns to educate citizens. This, she believes, is crucial in reducing new infections and prioritizing healthcare for all residents, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
The Senator encouraged the FCT Administration to maintain its momentum by investing further in public health infrastructure, awareness campaigns, and partnerships with stakeholders. She highlighted the need to build a healthier, more inclusive FCT where everyone has the opportunity to live a dignified and productive life.
