NPFL Reschedules Two Games, Enyimba Coach Speaks On Ikorodu Clash

Kwara United Postpones Match Against Enyimba due to CAF Confederation Cup Commitments

Following Enyimba’s qualification for the second group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, the NPFL Matchday 16 encounter between Kwara United and Enyimba has been rescheduled to a later date. The match, initially set for December 8th, will now take place at a later time.

Enyimba will face Egyptian club Zamalek in the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on the same day, and Kwara United had to postpone the match to accommodate this change.

In a social media post, Kwara United explained the new development, stating, “The anticipated NPFL25 Matchday 16 clash between Kwara United FC and Enyimba Int’l FC, initially scheduled for Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Ilorin, has been postponed until further notice. This decision comes in light of Enyimba Int’l FC’s advancement to the second group stage of the CAF competition.”

Enugu Rangers Delighted with Draw Against Enyimba

Enugu Rangers assistant coach Ekenedilichukwu Eke expressed pride in his team’s 0-0 draw against Enyimba in a thrilling derby at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

Despite Enyimba’s dominance, the Flying Antelopes displayed a solid defensive effort, demonstrating their solid teamwork and resolve.

When asked about his team’s performance, Eke stated, “I think this is a fantastic result for us, getting a point after traveling from Enugu to Aba. It wasn’t an easy game at all. From start to finish, it was intense and highly competitive. I give credit to both teams, but especially to my players—they performed exceptionally well.”

Enyimba Blames Officiating for Draw Against Rangers

Enyimba technical adviser Olanrewaju Yemi raised concerns about the officiating in the match.

Enyimba had a goal disallowed, which was disappointing given their control of the game.

According to Yemi, “We scored a goal, and it’s unfortunate that the referee had to cancel it. We look forward to improvements in the quality of officiating in the NPFL so that hard work and efforts can be appropriately rewarded.”
