Nigerian Air Force Conducts Airstrikes in Zamfara, Killing Notorious Bandits
A counter-insurgency expert specializing in the Lake Chad region has reported that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed several bandits in a series of airstrikes in Zamfara state’s Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA).
The airstrikes, conducted by the air component of Operation Fasan Yamma, targeted a notorious bandit leader, Ado Aliero, and his associate, Dan Umaru, according to a report by Zagazola Makama, a security expert.
The strikes were designed to dismantle the operational networks of these terror leaders and disrupt their activities in the region. Reliable intelligence reports had identified these sites as hubs for planning and launching attacks on communities, prompting swift military action.
Eyewitnesses in the area reported intense aerial bombardments that destroyed key infrastructure within the camps, causing significant casualties among the terrorists.
The operation is part of the Nigerian military’s renewed offensive against banditry and terrorism in the Northwest, following directives to intensify efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
Intelligence sources have confirmed the success of the operation, stating that the strikes effectively neutralized several high-value targets and disrupted the terrorists’ ability to regroup.
According to the report, the strikes were so effective that flames could be seen raging in the home of Dan Umaru, with dozens of terrorists killed.
