FCT Police Command Cracks Down on Tinted Vehicles Amid Rising Security Concerns

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has issued a stern warning to motorists with tinted glasses in their vehicles, citing a surge in security threats in the country.

During a press conference at the command’s headquarters in Abuja, Disu emphasized that tinted glasses have no place on the roads, as they hinder the identification of vehicles and contribute to lawlessness.

He shared a shocking revelation that many rescued kidnap victims have reported that the tinted glasses made it impossible for people to recognize their distress signals, allowing kidnappers to go undetected.

“We are taking a firm stance against all commercial vehicles and private cars with tinted windows,” Disu stated. “We need to be able to see who is inside these vehicles and know what’s going on. It’s essential for our safety and security.”

Disu also highlighted the common practice of criminals concealing their number plates, making it difficult for authorities to trace their vehicles. He urged residents of the FCT to comply with the laws regulating tinted glasses, warning that the police will strictly enforce these regulations henceforth.

“No one has the right to tint their vehicle,” Disu emphasized. “We will not tolerate this behavior, and anyone found guilty will face the full weight of the law.”
