Nollywood Actor Nonso Diobi Credits Hilda Dokubo for His Breakthrough Role
In a recent episode of the ‘Nollywood Hardcore’ podcast, Nonso Diobi revealed that veteran actress Hilda Dokubo played a significant role in securing his first major break in the movie industry.
According to Diobi, he had been attending auditions for years without success, but his chance encounter with Dokubo changed everything. He was attending an audition when Dokubo noticed him and requested the director to cast him as her brother in the movie due to their striking resemblance.
In his own words, Diobi recalled: “I was at an audition when I started hearing people calling my name from afar. Before I could get close to them, Hilda Dokubo said, ‘This young boy looks like me. He can play my brother.'”
This chance meeting led to Diobi landing his first major role after years of auditions. He didn’t even need to audition for the part, thanks to Dokubo’s intervention.
