Afrobeat sensation Davido weighs in on the debate surrounding cannabis, clarifying that he doesn’t consider it a hard drug.
In a recent podcast appearance on ‘The Morning Hustle’, Davido addressed his foundation’s plans to donate to orphanages and combat drug abuse, sharing his thoughts on the importance of helping addicts overcome addiction.
The singer acknowledged that drug abuse is becoming increasingly prevalent and emphasized the need to provide support to those struggling with addiction.
Notably, some critics have accused Davido of being a hypocrite due to his own admitted use of cannabis, a claim he has now clarified.
Davido explained that, in his opinion, cannabis does not qualify as a hard drug.
In his own words, he stated, “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t consider weed a hard drug. Some people say I smoke weed, but I don’t consider weed a drug.” He went on to express his desire to help individuals overcome addiction, citing the growing prevalence of drug-related issues.
Meanwhile, Davido shared a personal anecdote about his father, Adedeji Adeleke, who instilled in him a strong sense of faith in God.
